Why we built Original Matter Labs
Original Matter Labs exists because too many introductory psychology lab tools seem to have been designed by someone who has completely forgotten that first-year students do not all arrive equipped with an MSc in computer science.
Students do not need another over-complicated interface, a spreadsheet full of traps, or a piece of software that turns a basic research methods task into a small act of emotional archaeology.
They need tools that help them understand what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how to collect usable data without having to fight the software first.
The Labs are built for clear, practical psychology teaching: browser-based tasks, classroom demos, student research projects, export-ready CSV data, and core research skills that students are expected to pick up quickly.
Who it is for
For individual students, personal use is free. Original Matter Labs is there to help people learn the actual science behind the task, not just click through a black-box tool and hope the output looks academic enough to survive marking.
For educators, course teams, departments, schools, colleges, universities, training providers, and organisations, the commercial/institutional licence allows the Labs to be used properly in teaching, demonstrations, workshops, practical classes, student projects, staff resources, paid courses, and internal learning materials.
The aim is simple: less time spent solving avoidable software confusion, more time spent teaching students how psychological research, experimental tasks, data collection, and analysis actually work.
