Terms, Refunds & Academic Use

Last updated: 09/04/2026

Welcome to Original Matter. These Terms, Refunds & Academic Use conditions explain the rules for using our website, purchasing our products, and accessing our academic support tools.

By using Original Matter or purchasing a product from us, you agree to these terms.

1. About Original Matter

Original Matter provides digital academic support tools for psychology and social science students, educators, and related users. Our products are designed to help with tasks such as formatting, research support, results presentation, and statistics-related workflows.

2. Digital products and access

Original Matter sells digital products and tool bundles. When you purchase a bundle or product, you are buying access to the relevant digital tools or resources described on the product page at the time of purchase.

We may update, improve, or refine our tools over time, but we do not guarantee that every feature, layout, or interface will remain identical forever.

You are responsible for making sure you can access the site and use a compatible device and browser.

3. Academic support only

Original Matter is designed to support academic work, not replace your judgement, understanding, or responsibility.

Our tools may help with structure, formatting, interpretation, planning, or drafting support, but they are not a substitute for learning the material, checking your work, or following your institution’s rules.

You remain fully responsible for:

  • reviewing and editing outputs;

  • checking accuracy and suitability;

  • making sure your work meets your course, institution, or publisher requirements; and

  • ensuring that anything you submit is compliant with your academic integrity obligations.

4. No cheating, fabrication, or misuse

You must not use Original Matter to:

  • fabricate data, references, results, or research materials;

  • submit work you do not understand as though it were entirely your own unaided work where that would breach your institution’s rules;

  • misrepresent generated or assisted outputs as expert supervision, professional advice, or official approval;

  • upload or process data you are not permitted to use; or

  • use the site in any unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful way.

If your school, college, university, or publisher has rules about AI-assisted or tool-assisted work, it is your responsibility to follow them.

5. Sensitive or restricted information

You should not submit confidential, highly sensitive, or personally identifying participant data into Original Matter unless you are fully authorised to do so and have taken appropriate steps to protect that information.

This includes, for example:

  • participant data;

  • patient or clinical information;

  • confidential educational records; and

  • any restricted material you do not have permission to process.

6. No guarantees

We aim to make Original Matter useful, reliable, and practical. However, we do not guarantee:

  • specific grades or academic outcomes;

  • institutional approval of any output;

  • uninterrupted or error-free access at all times; or

  • that every tool will be suitable for every assignment, course, or use case.

You use Original Matter at your own discretion and remain responsible for final academic decisions and submissions.

7. Refund Policy

Because Original Matter sells digital products and tool access, all sales are generally final once access has been granted.

However, we may offer a refund in reasonable cases such as:

  • duplicate purchases;

  • accidental double charges;

  • a technical failure that prevents access to the purchased product and which we cannot resolve within a reasonable time; or

  • any other circumstance where we decide a refund is appropriate.

If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please contact us within 7 days of purchase using the contact form on the website and include enough information for us to locate your order and understand the issue.

Nothing in this policy limits any rights you may have under applicable law.

8. Accounts and access

If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for activity that takes place through your account.

We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe that:

  • your account is being misused;

  • these terms are being breached;

  • the site or tools are being used in a way that creates legal, ethical, or security risks; or

  • access needs to be limited for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.

9. Intellectual property

All content, branding, tool design, text, graphics, interfaces, and materials on Original Matter are owned by or licensed to us unless otherwise stated.

Purchasing a product gives you access for your own permitted use. It does not transfer ownership of the tools or allow you to copy, resell, redistribute, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit them without permission.

10. Product descriptions and claims

We try to describe our products clearly and honestly. Product claims, bundle descriptions, and marketing materials are intended to explain what Original Matter does in practical terms, not to promise guaranteed results. Customer-facing claims should be truthful and not misleading, which is why it is worth keeping these descriptions plain and specific.

11. Changes to products or terms

We may update our products, pricing, policies, and these terms from time to time.

When we make changes to this page, we will update the Last updated date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means the updated terms will apply to future use of the site.
